The team has played international matches since 2001 and has been a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2010. Afghanistan has been playing international cricket since 2002, and has played in the Cricket World Cup three times, most recently in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Afghanistan has also played in the Asia Cup, and has won the Asia Cup twice, in 2016 and 2018. Afghanistan has also played in the ICC World Twenty20, and has reached the semi-finals twice, in 2012 and 2018.
